RIP Bea Arthur. Here's an appearance of Arthur and her "Maude" costar, Adrienne Barbeau, on "The View" a couple of years ago to promote the DVD release of the "Maude" series.
And Then There's Bea Arthur

Actress Bea Arthur passed away over the weekend from cancer. She was 86. I always liked her characters because they seemed so brutally honest and real - whether she was standing up to Archie Bunker as Edith's outspoken cousin Maude on "All in the Family" or as Dorothy Zbornak, the voice of reason on "The Golden Girls." Arthur also had roles on Broadway, most notably in "The Threepenny Opera", "Fiddler on the Roof", and "Mame." Arthur's Maude character eventually got her own worthy spinoff series of "All in the Family", and was a groundbreaking sitcom for the 70s. Maude had an abortion, liked to smoke pot, and speak her mind. And I must admit, for a middle-aged lady, I thought her clothes were quite groovy!
